Romp of a Comp « Thread Started on Sept 17, 2006, 11:32pm »
As you could probably tell by the rhyming title, this is a poetry competition. I haven't got any prizes as yet, though you can probably expect some kind of awesome banner or sig that says something along the lines of 'I win at poetry!' or something.
The Judges will be:
Sporky Southern Belle PhoneixFire
Okay, now for this poetry competition, I want people to write three poems, each with different themes, one theme suggested from each Judge. The themes are:
Space
Procrastination
Dragons
So, you have to write three poems, in any style that suits you, but the three have to be about or incorporate Space, Procrastination and Dragons respectively. One theme for each poem.
The competition deadline is 5 October 2006. Why? I dunno, I just picked a date at random that's a little while away.

Stars Navigator (Space Poem)
I sail in a sea, one that nobody has been able to see. I believe they call it space on a certain planet of a human, so called race. I roam from island to island, in search of a shinny land. But the only thing I have found is opaque and common dust in pounds!

Daring Boy (Procrastination Poem)
The daring boy walked straight at the girl, he grinned evilly at his prey, but then he saw her brother, Grey while he blinked, his hair curl' he was paralyzed, and gulped he knew that if he kept on going he would be turned into pulp. After failing, his friend started booing.

Story of Two (Dragon Poem)
His eyes were sad, his fortune was bad. Poor Obscurant, the black dragon had bad luck. But one day he meet a girl in a lagoon, who broke the curse with a duck. Obscurant's true form came back, he was the prince of Thuhak. And so he married the magi, who was the great Amy Taggi.
I swear never to eat another Belle Brownie until the next time I do.

I've worked really hard on these, spent a couple of nights on them. Hope it's good enough for this contest ^_^; (and dramatically posted on the last minute, g-g-g-g-gasp! XD)
Life as a star! (Yes, I’m quite sure you have NO experience in this lifestyle)
Oh, how wonderfully marvelous it is to be a star like me! I glitter with such glamour, quite impossible be tedious. I travel from here to there in this black, misty sea, My graceful exquisiteness makes others grow envious.
The importance of my appearance being a spotless sight, Is far beyond comprehension of the lowly common star, My form is most precious; I polish day and night, Dazzling like valuable jewels, you can see me from a far.
It’s tiring labour, shining with such brilliance, But it all comes so naturally, a burden, I suppose Though my beauty always brightens the night, with such radiance, I grow weary of this tiresome job, I need time to repose
No, no, no! I shall not speak of such nonsense, such poppythingy! My elegance is a gift that should be taken with delight! And to think is there any other star that could take my spot? Heavens, no! They could never replicate my gorgeous sight!
Malodorous Hero
He has fought with villains in countless battles He has come face to face with death With the enemies’ shields, his sword would rattle And he would bereave them of their breath
On horse back, he would venture, travel the land Places where crooks were proven feeble. Many scoundrels have died at his hard working hands, For he lives to protect his people.
But, there comes a time when his courage seeps away Very difficult to believe, but true. That this hero loathes bathing, god forbid the day His battle with soap, water too.
Every day, when his time comes, to face his greatest opponent, He says quite sluggishly, “Meh, I’ll do it tomorrow.” But his stench is a blessing, for without the component, He would have never defeated all his foes.
Peculiar Mr. Dragon
My ancestors are as fierce, as tough as can be When others are in their presence, all becomes hushed They all fought great wars, prevailed victoriously All of their enemies, my ancestors have mightily crushed
Their amazing strength plays a chief part in Dragon History Dragons worship them for their great bravery To say their name in vain would be blasphemy And you would be punished with a life sentence of slavery
But although we share the same sacred blood My family is very disappointed in me From my Mother’s eyes, tears pour and flood For I am not the dragon I am expected to be
They find it rather discomforting that I enjoy certain pleasures Knitting, crocheting, literature, art and much more Their discontent, their regret is far too much to measure But I find killing others and going on adventures quite a bore
I love to get caught in the blissful summer rain I find it distasteful to act like a blood-thirsty brute How can enjoyment grow from seeing others in pain? I’d rather find delight in playing my enchanting flute.
